This coin is a 1981-D Kennedy Half Dollar, part of the long-running U.S. half dollar series introduced in 1964. The obverse features President John F. Kennedy, designed by Gilroy Roberts, with inscriptions “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, depicts the Presidential Seal—a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows.
